El señor de Solminihac se recibió de Ingeniero Civil en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC) en Marzo 82. Fue becado con la beca Presidente de la República para realizar su MSc en la Universidad de Texas (UT), Austin, EE.UU. En 1989 fue becado por la OEA para realizar su Doctorado en UT, el cual lo obtuvo en Mayo de 1992. Es profesor de la Escuela de Ingeniería de la UC desde agosto 1982.

Actualmente es Director del Departamento de Ingeniería y Gestión de la Construcción de la Escuela de Ingeniería de la UC, director planificación del Centro Latinoamericano de Políticas Económicas y Sociales de la UC (Clapes UC), director del Magister Administración de la Construcción (MAC UC) director de la empresa APSA, Gestión de Infraestructura, director de la Fundación Club Deportivo Universidad Católica, director Cruzados SADP, director CDF, director Fundación San Agustín. Además, director del Consejo de Política de Infraestructura (CPI), asesor del Ministro de Obras Pública del Puente Chacao y es miembro de la Academia de Ingeniería de Chile

Fue ministro de Minería (2011-2014) y ministro de Obras Publicas (2010-2011), fue Decano de la Facultad de Ingeniería de la UC (2004-2010) y Director de la Dirección de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas de la UC (DICTUC) (1998-2004),presidente de DICTUC SA (2004-2010), fue presidente de la Comisión Chilena del Cobre (Cochilco) (2012-2014), fue presidente del directorio de Empresa Nacional de Minería (ENAMI) (2012-2014).

Mr. Solminihac graduated as a Civil Engineer from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (UC) in March 1982. He was granted the President of the Republic scholarship to pursue his MSc at the University of Texas (UT), Austin, USA. In 1989, he received a scholarship from the Organization of American States (OAS) to complete his Doctorate at UT, which he obtained in May 1992. He has been a professor at the School of Engineering of UC since August 1982.

Currently, he serves as the Director of the Department of Engineering and Construction Management at the UC School of Engineering. He is the planning director of the Latin American Center for Economic and Social Policies at UC (Clapes UC), the director of the Master’s in Construction Management program (MAC UC), the director of the company APSA Infrastructure Management, the director of the Universidad Católica Sports Club Foundation, the director of Cruzados SADP, the director of CDF (Chilean Football Channel), the director of the San Agustín Foundation. Additionally, he is the director of the Infrastructure Policy Council (CPI), an advisor to the Minister of Public Works on the Chacao Bridge project, and a member of the Chilean Academy of Engineering.

He served as the Minister of Mining (2011-2014) and the Minister of Public Works (2010-2011). He was the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UC (2004-2010) and the Director of the Directorate of Scientific and Technological Research at UC (DICTUC) (1998-2004). He was the president of DICTUC SA (2004-2010) and the president of the Chilean Copper Commission (Cochilco) (2012-2014). He also served as the president of the board of the National Mining Company (ENAMI) (2012-2014).
